Pope bows out of annual procession due to knee pain
Pope Francis canceled his participation in an annual mass and a procession next weekend due to his current knee pain, the Vatican announced on Monday.
The annual procession of the Domini corpus, scheduled for Sunday, is a secular profession of the Catholic faith during which the Eucharist is exposed publicly.
Francis has canceled several events this year due to the ligaments stretched at the right knee, which made walking and standing position. He has been using a wheelchair for more than a month, and the Vatican announced last week that he had to cancel his trip scheduled from July 2 to 7 in Africa in Oreder not to compromise his recovery.
