Jennifer Hudson Is One Of The Youngest EGOTs Ever

Jennifer Hudson has just made history as the youngest EGOT winner.

At last night’s 75th Annual Tony Awards, Hudson’s co-produced Broadway musical A Strange Loop was named Best Musical – officially landing EGOT actress and singer status, or prestigious status. and rare in which someone has won an Emmy, Grammy, Oscar, and Tony.

Hudson won an Oscar in 2007 for her performance in the 2006 musical film, Dreamgirls. She then won an Emmy in 2021 for her work as executive producer on the animated film Baba Yaga. Finally, Hudson has two Grammy Awards under her belt. She won the former in 2009 for her self-titled debut studio album and the latter in 2017 for The Color Purple’s musical theatre album.

Hudson previously spoke to BAZAAR.com about being an EGOT winner.

When asked if she aspires to achieve the coveted status, she replied, “You know, I would love to achieve that one day. If I’ve made it this far, why not go for the T? I do it for the love of the job. I’m passionate about what I do. I’ve been blessed to accomplish so much in my life. So if it allows me to add the T to my EGO, I will.

She joins an exclusive list of 16 others who have also become EGOT winners, including John Legend, Rita Moreno, Whoopi Goldberg, Andrew Lloyd Weber and Audrey Hepburn.
