Hot air brings Spain its 1st withering heat wave of year

MADRID: The meteorological service of Spain indicates that a mass of hot air in North Africa brought the first major heat wave in the country on Sunday, with temperatures that should reach 43 degrees Celsius (109.4 degrees Fahrenheit) in certain places.

The AEMET meteorological agency said the hottest areas are in the center and southwest Spain. The heat wave should last at least until Wednesday, the agency said.
